Learnovate’s Thought Leaders Circle Welcomes TCD Provost Dr Linda Doyle

Learnovate were delighted to welcome Trinity College Dublin Provost Dr Linda Doyle to our Thought Leaders Circle on Thursday, 11 November. The Provost is the Head of Trinity College Dublin and equivalent to the title of President in other universities. Dr Linda Doyle took up office in August 2021 and is the 45th Provost to be appointed since the foundation of the University in 1592. Her appointment marks the first time in its 429-year history Trinity, with 17,000 students and 3,000 staff, has been led by a female academic.

The Provost addressed the online meeting on ‘The Future of Third Level & Higher Education. After the Provost’s address, industry leaders, expert academics and researchers from the Learnovate team shared their perspectives on themes arising from the Provost’s address in virtual breakout rooms. Learnovate heard views from Gates Ventures, Zoom, SAP, Poly, Microsoft, Learning Pool, Mastercard, United World Colleges South East Asia, Akari Software, Hibernia College, LearnUpon, Technology Ireland DIGITAL Skillnet, SoapBox Labs and Trinity College Dublin.

The Thought Leaders Circle also heard about the latest Learnovate research from researchers Ilse White, who presented on ‘Enhancing Teacher Engagement with Online Communities’; Peter Gillis, who presented on the ‘Assessment of 21st Century Skills in Project Based Learning’; and Janet Benson who presented on ‘Collaboration for Learning: Reducing learner isolation & improving wellbeing.’

The Thought Leaders Circle is open to Patron Members of Learnovate. Patron membership is the highest form of Learnovate membership and Patron members are invited to sit on the Centre’s Thought Leaders Circle and participate in its Research Working Groups. The global Learnovate community has grown significantly in 2021. Membership ensures organisations benefit from a wealth of cutting-edge research and thought leadership on the future of work and learning.
